Friday 9th March 2001 – 7.20am
A grey day, just beginning really, but already there’s life out on the water. By the Boat Club a man with a dog bales his tender, lifts the dog in and rows out to his boat, at the same time as two other men in yellow oilskins appear in second tender, moving out into the Channel. One of the big ships is launched today, but unfortunately I’ll be away on a train and will miss it.
