Saturday 31st March 2001 – 10.11am
Low tide with a strong SW wind blowing at my back. As I’m standing here a lady is walking across with her grandson, telling him how people used to cross the Channel before the bridge or ferry. South, behind me a car is out on the flat of the Channelbed, the father working his boat while the two children run flapping across the mud and shellfish.
