Saturday 21st July 2001 – 10.14am
Wind from the southwest, blowing in gently, while overhead the cloud is still overhanging the day. To sea there are long strips of sky, but no blue still, only grey and haze. Over Black Combe and the Lakes all is thick and grey and almost continuous cloud. On the water the tide is roiling slowly in, turning boats around their moorings and pushing on up the bank edges.
