Wednesday 29th August 2001 – 8.47am
High tide flattening out the Channel into a still blue-green bruised surface. There’s a light south-southeast wind dappling the water, but all is calm save for the fisher sending its bow wave across the Channel. Black Combe lies shrouded in haze again, its top disappearing into the sky above it, as it tries to fade from view.
