Tuesday 25th September 2001 – 8.23am
No wind, just drab flags. The only movement is coming from the retreat of the tide: you can almost see the movement underneath the surface by the ripple and drag of the top as it snags on the stationary air. The day has a steel look to it: caused by the lack of sun. Black Combe sits dark away. In the air though, high up, the clouds are moving southwest, harnessing the last of the wind.
