Thursday 4th October 2001 – 8.27am
Bottom of the tide with the Channel bed exposed. A strong southwest wind is barging in, pushing past everything in its path. Away, Black Combe sits dark, covered in gathering grey cloud and looking storm-ridden. Out to sea and to the east there are small patches of blue sky but overall the sky is just grey cloud.
