Friday 9th November 2001 8.36am
Clear and blue today, with only a thin hatched line of cloud moving across the sky. Otherwise all is crisp cold blue air. Black Combe is clear in the distance, crouching over the view, while the Lakeland Fells have ice showing on their tops. There is a north-northwest wind blowing in, though it is less ferocious than yesterday, so the day is not quite so cold. The boats on the water have thinned out now and you wonder if the ones still remaining on the water will be moved at all this winter.
