Sunday 23rd December 2001 10.21am
The day is cold and subdued by cloud, keeping out the bright winter light; instead giving the day an old hand me down, used, redirected light. Above all is grey cloud; the sky blocked by a horizontal wall of breezeblock above. Black Combe is still visible, ice on her flanks and crown, the result of a cold night and morning, with the northwest wind unable to thaw her today.
