Sunday 8th April 2001 – 12.26pm
A bright day with the tide flooding high and hard in the water beneath. On the Prom are the beginnings of the queues of trailers, boats out, gone fishing. This must be another of the year’s highest tides – the water filling all the space available in the view. The water is a busy place, here I am watching as one of the boats comes out and begins to push up against the tide towards the bridge, perhaps testing its height, before pausing and then turning speeding back with the water, to then turn and push slowly forward again, before mooring up, one man managing the whole movement against the tide.
