Thursday 17th May 2001 – 8.50am
A bright clear, calm day, with the tide high and the boats settled in the water. Black Combe stands clear today, in no haze or fog, but fully lit and showing its colours – browns and greens and a cap of shadow. By the Boat Club a small fisher is getting ready to depart, its two crew in waterproofs, and the noise of its engine drifting across.
