Half-tide, leaving slowly out of the Channel, the water meandering
and trying to stay behind. There is almost no wind, just a calm on
the water that ripples only from the movement of water beneath its
surface. The sun in the sky has given the water a wonderful shine
this morning, and the same sun is beginning to light up Black Combe.
On the water a fisher is starting up, chugging water and belching
out thick oily smoke.
