Wednesday 5th September 2001 – 8.41am
Steel grey flat sky contrasting with the mud and exposed slopes of the Channel at low tide. The sky is a blank today and the view narrow, while all the boats lie aground or in inches of Channel, waiting for water. The northwest wind is blowing in strongly, but can’t threaten the settled cloud that seems rooted to the day.
