Tuesday 11th September 2001 – 8.40am
Black Combe flattened out this morning: a great mass of cloud is rolling out from the sea to press the hill down as it passes. The day is cloud, with large grey masses of the stuff fixed together and passing across the skyline, blown quickly along by the strong northwest wind. The day itself seems to threaten rain, and the sun seems already to have conceded the battle for the day.
