Sunday 30th September 2001 – 10.47am
A strong southeast wind today, pushing insistently at my back and spurring the tide on higher and higher. The water pushing up the Channel is full of life and looks green from above, the wind mixing it up and giving it life. It is also full of seaweed - wrenched from the rocks and the shore further out to sea. The day is full cloud with only faint strips of sunlight visible, though Black Combe is fighting to show itself: pushing away at the covering cloud.
