Strong wind from west-southwest today; pushing at my left shoulder
and sending bands of ripples up across the Channel, while pushing
the stern of each boat so it rides between it and the exiting current.
The distance is grey and flat like a wall built up overnight. As I
stand here a small fisher comes back in under the bridge, towing its
tender, so she is probably not returning from the sea, but only changing
moorings.
