Tuesday 16th October 2001 – 8.37am
Two-thirds up to high tide now. Black Combe is there - its shape shown only by its western edge - cutting down out of cloud. Otherwise there is only cloud in the distance, though above is a gap, like the neck of a jar and us inside. The major thing this morning is the cold: clear skies last night have let in a chill, so that the south-southeast wind brings bite and bluster to us this morning.
