Friday 26th October 2001 – 8.41am
Black Combe rising out of the grey sky, its shape sharpening as I stand here. The clouds are conjuring for me. It’s a blustery day with a fair wind from the south pushing all before it. It looks to be the height of the tide, the grey-green water filling out the breadth of the Channel, while the wind making lines along the length of the water.
