The tide is still rising to its height, while a strong southwest wind
blows in. The wind has subsided since last nights gale that
roared across the island menacingly, making it sound as if the sea
was at the end of the street. The sky is blue this morning but the
day close, and Black Combe is safe from view in the distant haze.
Closer to home, the trees on the Promenade continue to brown and crisp
slowly as the leaves begin to fill the road edges.
