Wednesday 31st October 2001 – 8.14am
An incredible wind this morning, rushing in from the northwest at an incredible force, stirring up the water as it moves across. The flags at Channelside are fully spread and bending the poles as they are pulled along in its wake and the rigging of the boats in the Boat Club yard is howling and banging. Black Combe stands in shadow impervious. The wind continues, bringing sun and rain in alternate burst due to its speed.
