Friday 2nd November 2001 8.52am
Half tide, with water swirling up the Channel, heading north towards Sandscale and the Island’s tip. There is a reasonable west-northwest wind today coming in across Walney. Black Combe is unusually clear for such an overcast day. It stands, out of the cloud, in daylight – its colours just beginning to show themselves into the day.
