Sunday 11th November 2001 10.25am
Grey mud water, as the tide begins to recede, showing the wet banks and the Channel floor up by North Walney and Sandscale – the ridges in the bed that belie the smooth surface on the water. The day is overcast, with a fair northwest wind moving across it, seeming mild compared to the chilled northerly winds of the last week. Two men are on the Walney slipway, ambitiously readying a jet-ski. Rather them than me on this cold overcast day.
