A south-southwest wind pushing up with the tide into the gloom of the air, on a drab wet morning. There is a light drizzle in the air, hardly noticeable really; the cloud and wind are more unpleasant. A plane goes over, full lights on, following the Channel north as it searches for the airfield, it appearing briefly out of cloud, before disappearing back into obscurity over North Scale and its landing.
