A cold wind from the southeast chilling hands and ears today; good
for brisk walks, but bad for loitering in. The tide is still rising
up, filling the whole space of the Channel. Away, Black Combe is clear
in the view, its sides lit up by hazy sunlight, showing off
its brown curved flank. On the water a trawler has returned from out
at sea and is making its way around to the jetty by the Dock Museum,
the only visible sign being the flock of gulls now circling its position.
