High tide, the surface smooth and glassy, with the movement underneath
shown only by ripples and snags on the surface as the tide moves on
up, underneath. The sky is a weave of strips of cloud that cover the
sky, dimming the day, but still light gets in from somewhere. Black
Combe sits quietly in the view - shadowed but at its foot,
rising out of the Duddon, a band of thick fog is just visible beyond
Roanhead.
