Sunday 3rd June 2001 – 10.48am
A clear day, with a strong NW wind blowing in, scrunching up the Channel’s surface as the boats ride between it and the still-incoming tide. Away, Black Combe is in sunshine, but looks mottled because of the clouds forming around and over it. The high tide seems to give the boats different places from when they are at rest in mud, the lines of the banks gone and the reference points changed.
