Overcast, the Channel being a line across two pieces of weather: grey and dark inland but clearer and lightening out to sea. North though, all is low cloud: just one large piece obscuring all but the seaward edge of Black Combe. It is near low tide on the water, with the boats fairly rested in a light west wind.
