A calm day today: no wind and the boats are motionless on top of their own reflections. Overhead the day is hazy, with a hint of glare from bright sunshine still hidden by cloud overhead. On Channelside a man in a small tractor is cutting the grass, sending a high-pitched buzz-click-buzz-click noise out over the Channel. Meanwhile, on the Promenade, the traffic is tailed back at the roadworks by the Ferry pub as a learner driver stalls repeatedly at the traffic lights.
