Sunday 14th October 2001 – 9.56am
A grey set-upon day of low cloud and low light. The view is almost not here; instead what I have is a painted replica. There is a light wind rolling softly in from the east but the water is pure tide today: the tide pushes strongly up the Channel, its force clearly shown by the patterns on the water and the tears in its surface left as it passes each mooring buoy.
