Wednesday 19th December 2001 8.54am
Low tide; the banks grey and dark and in shadow, while Black Combe sits cloud capped but in full colour low sunshine – the brightness like a coat around her. There is a cold mild west wind today, bringing life to the air, and the gulls are out in numbers, glinting as their sides catch the sun when they swoop and turn.
